Events like Race for Life are an important way in which Cancer Research UK is able to fund its life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me now you could help more people survive cancer.
In 2006 I raised around £1000 altogether for Race for Life. £330 of that total was donated through my Justgiving Page and the rest through selling collectable bears from my CHERISH website at www.cherishonline.co.uk and eBay. You can see the 2007 bears in the photograph on this page. As usual, I have had special medals made for them.
It was this event back in 2002 that got me started on fundraising for Cancer Research UK and since then I have raised appproximately £43,000 for the charity. Much of this has been through selling collectable bears and Beanie Babies from my website and by auction through eBay; some has come through sponsorship and donations and some through fundraising at my place of work.
Every donation, no matter how large or small, adds up to make a difference to the vital research being done by Cancer Research UK. I sincerely believe that the charity is giving people a chance that cancer sufferers like my Dad did not have. He died from bowel cancer at the age of 38, back in 1967.
