update, 3.7.05:
I ran the Race For Life this afternoon - I managed to do 5km in 26 minutes despite the heat and having literally just stepped out of the car after driving back from a week's holiday in Wales... OK, enough with the excuses. I'm quite pleased with myself.

The event was very touching. I was moved to tears on more than one occasion. Thank you to all who sponsored me.

I'll be doing this run in memory of Julia Darling (http://www.juliadarling.co.uk), a poet, novelist and playwright who died of breast cancer on 13th April 2005. I was lucky enough to meet her a few times, and she was an amazing woman. I recommend visiting her website and reading some of the tributes to this wonderful person.
