Aakanksha will run as a new member of Team Run Fat Girl Run 2009!

This year, I was asked by Team RFGR whether I wanted to join them and run with them to raise money for Cancer Research. I am from India and hardly know or hardly hear about anyone suffering from cancer over there. As far as I knew, only smokers and those who chew tobacco got cancer. Readers Digest and movies told me Breast cancer existed and Discovery Channel ensured I knew that Australians got skin cancer because of the hole in the ozone layer. 

Since I moved overseas in 2002 to study in Australia and then in the UK, I have found out just how prevalent and destroying cancer can be. It manifests itself in many forms and progresses at different rates. Much is known about cancer, but there is so much still that remains unkown. Cancer needs further research. Help fund it!

In 2008, Team RFGR raised over £800. This year, the team is twice its size (in number of members, mind you)! We hope to raise twice the amount!
