As you may know I have been fighting my own battle against cancer for the last 18 months. I realise that without the treatment I have received I very likely wouldn't still be here today with the chance to raise money to help others beat this disease.

The research that charities like Cancer Research UK undertake really does help make a difference to real people such as me and the help and advice they give you after diagnosis is invaluable.

Most of all though I hope that the money raised might help fund new research and treatments that will give many people, hopefully including myself, the chance of a longer life.

My precious son can then grow up with a mum that's here for him when he needs me and I can live to fulfil the dreams that, until there's the very real chance you might not see them, you don't realise how precious they are: to see my son start high school, to start university, start driving, get his first job, let alone all the birthdays to celebrate and homework to help with and, if I should live long enough, I might even get to see the Albion run out at Falmer...ok that one might be only a pipedream!
