I DID IT! I was excited to be entered in the Race for Life after successful treatment for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma means I am now in remission. I wanted to race in celebration of the extra life I've been given and in gratitude for the amazing care I received from the wonderful staff at Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre, and the love and support of friends and family. A very brave lady called Jackie Cull has been a great inspiration to me. She completed Race for Life last year, although ill, and raised a phenomenal amount for Cancer Research (read about her here http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/jackiec and here http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/jackie-anne-cull ) Sadly, Jackie passed away on 20th April 08 but she will always remain a great inspiration to me and to many others. I walked the race rather than running and my friends Linda and Petra (who are very capable of running it) kindly walked it with me. Thankfully I did not need to resort to the wheelchair but I was relieved to see the finishing line! We finished in 1hr 15 minutes, which was much better than I had anticipated. Thank you so much to all those who have sponsored. There is still time to sponsor if you haven't done so and wish to. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me - Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, at least an extra 25% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you when you tick the Gift Aid box.
Many thanks for your support - together we will beat cancer.
