I was sitting on the Tube this morning, thinking my same old thoughts, listening to the same old music I always listen to. I happened to glace up and saw an advert for the Race for Life.
My immediate reaction was to wonder whether it was a marathon or a 5k, not that it mattered; I'm not in the habit of participating in either. A few hours later, though, the advert wiggled its way back into my brain, and I searched out the Race for life on the internet. Only 5k, phew.
I'm not sure why I feel so compelled to do this. There are the obvious reasons, like the healthifying effects of having to train for this, and (of course) I want to raise money for a good cause. But this one event of all the others has just 'clicked' with me, and I'm a fan of following intuition.
I'd be most pleased if you could support me in this. It's a step outside my comfort zone, but maybe it will help prevent others from having to brave much scarier paths in the future.
Here's RfL's details:
As a charity, Cancer Research UK rely overwhelmingly on the success of fundraising events such as Race for Life to continue our life-saving research into the prevention, treatment and cure of all forms of cancer.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
