For those of you who have missed all of the advertising, Race for Life is the UK's biggest women-only fundraising event, with events taking place across the UK this summer supporting Cancer Research UK, the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research.

Women of all ages and all levels of fitness run, walk, jog, skip, hop - just somehow take part - in a 5km (3.1mile) race, raising sponsorship to support Cancer Research UK, who rely overwhelmingly on the success of fundraising events such as this to continue their life-saving research into the prevention, treatment and cure of all forms of cancer.

This year, for the second time, I will be one of those women, racing in memory of my Grandad and my uncle John who both lost their battles with lung cancer.
