Running for Gordon, Helen, Lily, and everyone else affected in any way by cancer.
Why am I signing up to try and run/jog/walk 5km when I get out of breath running for the bus?
Like many other people, I have lost people close to me from cancer, and this brought me into contact with the work that Cancer Research UK does. Any charity that works toward beating cancer in its many forms deserves all the help it can get. So please, please, please sponsor me - I know it is a cliche, but every little really does help.
The Southampton Race For Life comprises a 5km lap around the Common and down the Avenue. If you know anything about Southampton, the site of 10000 women running down the Avenue has to be seen to be believed!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Please give as much, or as little, as you feel you are capable of donating, be that 10p, £1, £10, or more. It's been said before, and no doubt will be again, but every little does help.
So please sponsor me now. And pass on the link to your friends and family, so they can sponsor me as well. To donate offline, please send a cheque payable to “Cancer Research UK” to the address below or call the hotline on 08705 134 314. (If you do donate offline, let me know, so I can still add you to my total)

Many thanks for your support, and if you happen to be in Southampton on July 17th, look out for number 6839 - I could very well be in need of paradmedical attention!
