Update!! 10/7/08
Race completed!!! Well, a mixture of walking and running. Despite getting drenched at the start of the event, the sun eventually came out and we dried out and had a fantastic time! Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to this fantastic cause, evry one of you, whether £1 or £50 it all shows you have hearts of gold and that you care for others, which is what it's all about. As well as the total amount raised on this page, take a look at Lisa marie Gouchers page for the team's grand total THANKYOU!!!! Theres still a couple of days to add you sponsor money on-line, but even if you miss this, you know where we are, get a cheque in the post, or give direct to Cancer Research!! You know you should! Would like to say a huge thankyou to Choice Support, a great company to work for and very supportive of our efforts. And of course a huge thank you to everyone who has sponsered us, online and off, I will add the total amount raised to the bottom once we have tallied it all up. I, Bernice, am racing in rememberance of my partner Wayne, who at just 37, lost his life to Malignant Melanoma. Wayne, whom I spent nearly 10 years with, was such a giving individual, who went out of his way to help anyone, asking for so little in return, even when he knew he was losing his life. I have never known, and I very much doubt I will meet, a more selfless, brave person. Wayne himself took part in lots of fundraising in celebration of his Dad Bob, who has survived bowel cancer. We are also remembering Wayne's adored grandad Gag, whom passed away from prostrate cancer. Cathy is racing in celebration of her husband Rob , whom after undergoing nearly 30 hours of surgery due to Squamous Cell Carcinoma, now has a good prognosis. Rob underwent extensive operations to reconstruct where his ear should be, and still faces radiotherapy and further operations , however, Cathy is just glad that he is still here with her and the future looks brighter. Cathy is also racing in rememberance of her sister, who passed away 2 years ago from breast cancer, and her father, who passed away from pancreatic cancer.
