Well folks it’s that time of the year again. Once again myself and my partner in crime Elaine are taking to the streets (this time St.Evenage) to do the 5K run for Cancer research. I know as I write this some of you reading have sadly lost loved ones to this horrible disease, some are still fighting and some are trying to cope with how to move on. As many know I have stood by and watched the one man I respect and love above everyone else fight this thing for years, many of you have come into my life recently and seen the fight as its got harder and harder, others have stood by me as a wall of strength for years picking me up when I fell down and helping me be there for my family. For over 10 years we have stood and watched as my Dad has fought this illness and we will continue to fight tooth and nail to help him, in the last 10 months alone my father has un-gone major operation to remove a tumour from his face, 6 months of chemotherapy, this year he has had two major operations to remove tumours from his lungs, and now unfortunately we face the news that the fight must go on - the battle cry can be heard from deep within the Rutherford house hold! However this year I not only race for my Dad and my loved ones taken by this illness I run for the woman who has stood shoulder to shoulder with the man she loves year after year, facing this thing with him, supporting and being a rock not only to him but to me and my brother, without her we would not have got to where we are and too many carers are forgotten and its time that their amazingly strength is recognised. I run for the past pain, for the future hope, for their love of each other, for the battle they face every waking moment of every single day, for the strength to get up and face the world, for taking the hits time and time again and refusing to be beaten and hitting back with more power and determination. I am forever in total awe of two people can face so much and be so humble, caring and supportive to others around them. I only hope that I have managed to inherit 1% of my parent’s strength, fighting spirit and determination, if that where true I would be the proudest daughter in the world. “Anyone can give up; it’s the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that’s true strength.” Please help me raise as much money as I can for Cancer Research, without them, their time and their investigations into cancer and cures, my Dad would not be here today. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me - Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, at least an extra 25% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you when you tick the Gift Aid box.
So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support - together we will beat cancer.
