Shelterbox is an international disaster relief charity that delivers emergency shelter, warmth and dignity to people affected by disasters worldwide. Thousands of ShelterBoxes are expected to be needed to provide shelter, warmth and dignity to the families made homeless by the Japanese crisis.

The Japanese Red Cross has been working on the ground since the disaster began, mobilising 86 teams, made up of around 600 doctors, nurses and support staff, to provide first aid and healthcare and assess the damage and needs of the communities affected. The Japanese Red Cross has agreed to accept donations from the UK.

Childs i Foundation is a small charity which aims to stop baby abandonment in Uganda. In the last year they have set up two centres – a transitional babies’ home and a mother and baby crisis centre – as well as a social work department to find families for all their children.
