My (Helen's) mother-in-law, Mavis, passed away on Thursday 14th August 2008. She was my main motivation for doing the race for life, and I am proud to dedicate this page to her memory. xxx

We did it!!! More photos here (with a link back to this page for good measure): http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~sprout01/RaceForLifePhotos.htm
Here's what we said when we started: "We're just aiming to finish the course this year, but Helen's hoping to run it next year! (eek)" - Mary walked it in 58 minutes, and Helen ran/jogged/walked it in 39min 32 sec, for which she really hadn't trained and is still paying the price at the time of writing, some 2 days later... But we did it, we enjoyed it, and we'll be back next year!
This page will accept donations until 21st September 2008.

Thank you for visiting our Race for Life fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor our mother-and-daughter team online. We're doing this in memory of Chris (Mary's brother), in support of Mavis (Helen's mother-in-law) and Toni (Helen's friend), and for everyone else who's currently fighting cancer, has beaten it, or has lost the battle. It's something which makes us feel helpless every time it hits, because we can't do anything about it, so we're channelling that frustration into some serious fund-raising instead.
Events like Race for Life are an important way in which Cancer Research UK is able to fund its life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring us now you could help more people survive cancer.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us - Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, at least an extra 25% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you when you tick the Gift Aid box.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support - together we will beat cancer, and we'll never ever let it beat us, no matter what happens.
Helen & Mary
