Privacy Policy

This website is operated and managed by Justgiving.com on behalf of Race for Life. By visiting this site or using any of its services, you are agreeing to the practices detailed below so please read on to find out how information relating to you will be used.

Justgiving takes your privacy very seriously. They will never pass your personal details on to any third party without your express consent. The only exception to this rule is where you build a personal fundraising page on the website; in that instance, Justgiving will pass on your name, email address and postal address to the recipient charity (or charities) in order that they can identify you as the source of the donations made to your page.

Justgiving’s privacy policy is set out in full below.

  1. The information collected from you as a site visitor

Justgiving collects information about the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of all visitors to this site. An IP address is a number assigned to your computer automatically when you use the Internet. This information is only collected in aggregate (in other words, Justgiving is unable to monitor your individual usage of the site) and helps Justgiving monitor site traffic patterns in order to improve its service. This site uses cookies for some interactive features. A cookie is a small amount of data, which includes an anonymous unique identifier that is sent to your browser from a web site's computers and stored on your computer's hard drive. Most browsers will automatically accept cookies. You can set your browser to reject cookies but some parts of the web site may not function properly if the cookies are rejected.

  2. The information collected from you as a registered user with a personal fundraising page

When you create a secure personal account on this website for the purpose of creating a personal fundraising page, Justgiving collects your full name including your title, email address, postal address, your phone number (where you agree to provide it) and your password. Justgiving will automatically pass on your name and email and home addresses to the charity (or charities), which will benefit from the donations collected through your fundraising page. Otherwise, Justgiving will not pass on your personal information to any third party without your express consent.

  3. The information collected from you when you donate

Justgiving collects your first and last name, your declaration of tax status, your credit or debit card details, including card type, card number and expiry date, and your billing address. Justgiving will only use your payment details for the purpose of processing your donation via its payment partner Barclays. To find out more about the security of your payments, please read Justgiving’s Security Policy. If you make a Gift Aid declaration, Justgiving will pass it on to the Inland Revenue for the purpose of reclaiming tax on behalf of the recipient charity or charities. Your Gift Aid declaration includes your name and home address (which may be different from your billing address) along with the confirmation that you are paying sufficient amounts of tax in the current tax year. Justgiving will only pass on your name and email address to the recipient charity (or charities) if you give your express consent for it to do so.

  4. Charities’ use of your personal information

Where you have opted in to pass on your personal details to a charity through this website, Justgiving declines all responsibility for their subsequent use of your personal information. If you wish to stop receiving further communications from a charity, please contact them directly.

  5. Security precautions to protect your information

The transfer of online transaction data to and from this website is protected by the implementation of a Secure Sockets Layer protocol. Justgiving’s Verisign 128-bit secure certificate allows web browsers to verify the authenticity of the secure domain and to communicate with the site securely, protecting confidential information from interception and hacking. It is your responsibility to keep your password secure at all times to avoid unauthorised use of your personal account on this site.

  6. Tell-a-Friend and charity voucher services

When you provide a friend’s email address for Justgiving to forward a web address, Justgiving will only use your friend’s address for this purpose. Justgiving will not send them further emails unless they opt in to receive regular information from Justgiving.

  7. Legal Process

Although unlikely, Justgiving may be forced by law to provide personally identifiable information to the appropriate authorities.

  8. Acceptance of our Privacy Policy

Use of the Justgiving website and associated services implies acceptance of this Privacy Policy. If you are not satisfied with any aspect of it please do not continue to use the website and services. This policy may change from time to time and you are deemed to have accepted the current version each time you use this website.
