I did it! The 10k run yesterday was really enjoyable. The weather couldn't have been better -sunny but a slight breeze - and the route through Cardiff in the park and over the River Taff made it all the better. I believe around 2000 of us set off (looking at how high the numbering went up to) and I think I was in at least the first 100, coming in at 1 hour and 2 minutes. The fastest was about 42 mins I think, and there were still a lot of women ambling into the finish 2 hours after the start. They seemed to enjoy waving at the crowds and chatting to everyone along the way! Although it's not a competition, it was a good boost for me to run at a respectable pace.
At the end of the race we were each given a medal and a goody bag containing some Nivea products (one of the race sponsors). I was also surprised to see a t shirt with my name on it (albeit very small) on sale at the retail stall. My friend Rhian ably assisted me by carrying my bag whilst I was running, taking photos, and generally giving me a lot of support - thanks Rhian!
Thanks so much for your sponsorship, and if you haven't already done so, there is still time! It can be either off on online - every penny helps.
