I must be mad. But this year, in my 50th year, I have decided to do something to prove to myself that I am not old! So Hannah, my neice Gemma, my sister JD and I are doing the Race for Life, for Cancer Research, in June. I know I have to get the walking stick out occasionally, and the knees are shot to buggery - but Im determined to have a go.
For those of you who dont know, both my parents died in their 40s of cancer, and my partner died of bone cancer, aged 26. If it wasnt for cancer, Hannah and Gemma would have the greatest gran and gramp anyone could want - and JD and I would have parents to support us and make us laugh (as they did when they were alive). In September I will have officially outlived all of them - so it seems appropriate to do something to mark the occasion - and show them that they have never been forgotten.
