Thank you for visiting our Race for Life fundraising page. Nicola and I are former pupils of Bluecoat School, Coventry. After hearing of the passing of Stephen Timbrell, head teacher of the school, we decided we would do the Race for Life to raise money for cancer research; in the memory of Stephen and of other friends and family we have seen suffer due to the vicious disease. Both of us aren't born runners (I may speak more for myself!- Kate) but this is a great cause to get fit and raise money for a important cause. Training is starting now and providing to be hard work... Please dig deep and sponsor us online today!
Events like Race for Life are an important way in which Cancer Research UK is able to fund its life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring us now you could help more people survive cancer.
Sponsoring us: Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me - Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, at least an extra 25% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you when you tick the Gift Aid box.
So please sponsor us now! If you are thinking of running to raise money you're more than welcome to join us, for whatever reason. The more the merrier and the more money going to cancer research! Many thanks for your support - together we will beat cancer. Kate and Nic xx Thanks to your generous sponsorship we're raising the target from £200 to £300. Thank you to all of you that have sponsored us so far! Let's keep raising money for a great charity. It has been agreed with one of the sponsors a photo at the finish line will be made available to all of you who sponsored us for comedy value and proof! xx (I'm yet to tell Nic about this!!) ______________________________________ Ladies and gentleman, the race is done!
Heavy rain didn't stop us and we finished the race in 40 minutes. There was a great atmosphere; a mixture of excitement, nervousness, remembrance, celebration and determination. During the 5k we read peoples notes on their backs which spurred us on (these were to write on to show who people ran for). From family member/s, friends, colleagues and one poignant one saying "For me"; it gave our run a purpose. We've raised an amazing £331, and I know there are more of you who said you'd sponsor us and haven't got around to it! No panic, you can still sponsor us through this website until early September; just to be prepared for this I've bumped out target up again; I know we can reach it! You're money is going to a great cause and will make a difference. If you know of anyone who would sponsor us they can still do this online, just send them our link. Thanks again.
