**update - 7 May 2010**
On 1 May 2010 my Nan was taken into hospital and within a few days it became clear that the cancer had returned & spread. She died in the early hours of May 7th, 2010, peacefully, and out of pain. This race will take place 3 days after what would have been her 94th birthday, and I will now be running it in her memory, and though right now it seems almost impossible, I am determined to see it through. Thank you for all your sponsorship so far & as I have beaten my target of £500, I'm raising it to £750 in the hopes that we can smash that target too.
*****
I first ran this race in 2005 in memory of my grandad, who died of cancer before I was born. While training for the first race, my nana was diagnosed with breast cancer and it became even more important to me to raise money for this cause.
My Nana is in remission now, and has been for some time, this wouldn't have been possible without the hard work and dedication of those people who are determined to beat this disease. Too many of my friends have lost people very, very dear to them over the last few years, and many of these were young, fit people who were cut down in their prime by this awful disease in its many different forms.
Please help me to raise £500 - which although might seem like a drop in the ocean, will really make a difference when added to all the other amounts that people raise.
2010 will be my fifth RFL. Last year, I reached my target of £1k, and wouldn't have done it without the support and generosity of my friends, family and colleagues.
