WE DID IT!
10 June 2007 - 50mins - ish. Had a fantastic day.
REMEMBER: you can still sponsor us until 24 June...
Thank you for visiting our Race for Life fundraising page . Please dig deep and sponsor us online.
Joyce was our family neighbour for 25+ years. Her two sons are the same ages as my sister and me. You can imagine we spent quite some time together as kids.
She was a wonderful lady. Smart and very straightforward. No nonsense. Kept our feet on the ground. But was fun too. (I love the picture above of her at my wedding blowing bubbles). She was also very kind. So many times my sister went to her house to spill all her troubles and woes. Like a I said a wonderful woman!
Joyce was first diagnosed with breast cancer. After lots of treatment, and some sadly less than wonderful care, she survived. Fantastic. Then the devastating news that it had returned and now it was in her brain. The intelligent bloody woman must have used it too much!!! She died 23 May 2007...
My sister says she will remember Joyce for her courage (she lived with Lupus all her life and then this, and never complained), advice and her being like a surrogate mum. Because even when she was ill, Joyce would call on my sister and make sure she was ok.
I love you, Joyce. I miss you. I race for you. xxx
