Hello! and welcome to my Race for Life sponsor page.
My name is Ann Magrs, I am 29 years old and I have Crohn's disease. Crohn's is a disease of the digestive tract and can affect this organ from the mouth right to the other end!!
I first did the Race for Life 2 years ago to raise money for Cancer Research UK because my friend Rachel had had bowel cancer and survived thanks to newly researched techniques and I wanted to celebrate that. Just before I did the race I was told that my Crohn's had gotten really bad and I had to be put on chemotherapy injections, then tablets to try and make me better. Scientists like those who work for Cancer Research UK must have researched these very tablets and I felt like I had the chance to give something back by doing the race.
If you think I look odd in my photo it is because I have a tube in my nose to partially feed me, I can't eat enough food to nourish myself.
The first year I did the race I raised £500, last year I raised £700 - this year my target is £1000 - if I reach it I have pledged to do the race in fancy dress, chosen by people who read my online journal. If you want to read my journal and keep up to date with my preparation for the race, and maybe even vote on my costume, visit :

You may see that I Race for Life for Hope Lilian Brodie - she is my god-daughter and is almost 2 years old. I want her to grow up in a world where cancer is never a death sentence.
You may also see some donations made for Hilda Moffet - she is my auntie and has a 'special' birthday this year! She has very kindly asked her family and friends to give money to my sponsor pages rather than buying her gifts - thanks so much Auntie Hilda.
Finally, a big hug to my mum who got dragged into the first race I did when I wasn't well enough to do it alone, she loved it so much that she did it last year and is already signed up for this year too - what a star!
Thanks for visiting and hopefully for sponsoring me, cancer touches everyone at some point in their lives, whether it be themselves, a family member or a friend. Cancer Research UK's work is vital - and YOU can help!
All my love
Ann xxxx
