This is the fundraising page for me - Nicola Bulmer and my two daughters, Megan and Bronte. At the time of the Race for Life, in June 2010, Megan will be 5 years old and Bronte will be 10 months old (and it's probably better if you don't ask how old I am....)
We would like to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK.
Our fundraising packs have been recieved! My number is 582 and Megan is 583. Bronte being under 5 years of age does not require her own number. We have spoken to the people organising the event and they have said that no pushchairs are allowed! I am hoping this is a mistake because I really don't fancy having to carry Miss Bronte around the course, because at nearly 20lbs, she is very heavy! :o)
Megan and Bronte and I are running (perhaps walking!) the race for a very special person in our life who has been affected by cancer - my Auntie Dot (Asbestos Lung Cancer). Sadly, Auntie Dot lost her battle in the early hours of 29th May 2010.
As a result we will now be completing the Race for Life in memory of Auntie Dot. The 13th June will be a very sad day for us, as we had hoped to have been doing it for her, and not in her memory.
Also, my half-brother Alan is currently undergoing treatment for Bowel Cancer.
THANK YOU so much for all the donations! Megan is super happy and does a little dance every time I get an e-mail and tell her we've been sponsored. She cannot wait to raise money for the 'bugs' that are hurting people like Auntie Dot and Alan. 'Bugs' is how I have explained to her what cancer is....it sounded the easiest thing for her to understand.
It is now just over two weeks to go until we complete the Race for Life. We have been overwhelmed by the amount we have raised so far, as we initially did not know what to put as our fundraising targert, and we would love to now reach £500. Can we do it?
Megan is now considering costumes and what we should be wearing....so watch this space!
