Hi my name is Gabriel, my friends call me Gabe.
I live in Bedfordshire, England with my Mummy, Daddy and my little sister. I like boys stuff like cars, motorbikes, and monsters. I want to be a Power Ranger when I grow up.
When I was 2 years old, and on the day that my little sister was born, I became ill. Five weeks later, on 25 July 2008 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour and days later my mummy and daddy were told it had spread to my spine.
On 7 August 2008 I was diagnosed with AT/RT - a rare, high grade childhood cancer. My family were told that I did not have long to live and that there was no hope of a cure - but I surprised everyone with my stength and was given an experimental intensive chemotherapy regime with stem cell rescue (I am too little for radiotherapy). I put up a very brave fight, had major surgery on my brain and my spine, spent prolonged periods in hospital and isolation, and somedays was so ill I could not stand up or spend more than a few moments of the day awake.
My family were with me for every second of my fight and never left my side. I mean the world to them and have taught them some very important lessons in life, but the most important lesson of all - to never, ever give up hope.
My last four scans since my treatment finished last year have shown no evidence of disease and each day I go from strength to strength. Nobody knows what the future holds for me - but is that not the same for everyone? I may not be the fastest runner or the highest jumper, but I take some beating on the bravery stakes!
