Thank you for visiting my Race for Life sponsorship page. Please dig deep and sponsor me...
Those of you that know me will know that I've never been the most athletic of people (!), so when I decided to start training for a triathlon in January I got a few raised eyebrows. Seeing as I'm putting myself through all this hard work I thought I might as well try and raise some funds for a good cause, and Cancer Research UK seemed like the ideal charity as its a cause close to my heart. So as well as doing the triathlon its appropriate to also do the Race for Life and boost my sponsorship.
So, on June the 11th I'll be competing in my first ever triathlon at Rother Valley Country Park, a super sprint event involving a 200m swim, 10km bike ride, and 4km run. And 2 weeks later on 26th June I'll be doing the 5km Race for Life on Doncaster Town Fields.
Please dig deep and sponsor me; the more money I can raise then the more incentive to finish both races, go on you know you want to see me finish!
Cancer is one of those diseases that touches everyone at some point in their life; I've certainly lost a few people to this awful disease, but have also seen many more beat it. The more money raised, the more research can take place and hopefully we can get closer to beating this once and for all.
If you are a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box when donating as this will increase your donation by at least 25% at no cost to you..
Every pound you donate really does make a difference – so please sponsor me now!.
Many thanks for your support. Together we will beat cancer.
Update 11 June 2011
Did the Rother Valley Triathlon this morning and finished it in 1 hour 2 minutes and 42 seconds! Didn't enjoy the swim, loved the bike and the run?..... well lets just say my legs let me down but I'm so pleased that I did it in a quicker time than I predicted. The nerves before the race were horrendous, I almost cried! But, the thought of all you guys sponsoring me made me man up and do it, so thank you!! x
Update 28th June
I did the Race for Life on Sunday which turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year so far. I took it nice and steady because of the heat and managed to run the 5k in 33 minutes. Thanks again to everyone for sponsoring me for these two events. I guess next time I want to raise money I'm going to have to think of something more extreme! x
