About our charity : Cancer Research UK Cancer Research UK
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. Our groundbreaking work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer has saved millions of lives. Survival rates have doubled in the last thirty years and we have been at the heart of that progress. But one in three of us will still get cancer at some point and our vital work, funded entirely by the public, will help ensure that millions more people will survive.

Our personal message:

Thank you for visiting my "Race for Life" fundraising page.  Yes, it's for the dreaded "C" word!!!

It's the same "C" word that you like to believe only happens to 'other' people.  The same one that you think won't affect you because you don't smoke and you eat sensibly and you still have things to do & a life to live!

Well unfortunately that same "C" word knows lots of things that YOU would like to ignore - it knows about genetic inheritance, environmental influences, and it knows the fact that it will live and grow inside 1in3 people whether they want it there or not!!

I will be taking part in the 2009 Race for Life in Devon, England.

It will be my SECOND YEAR participating - As my friends know, I would normally prefer to put money in a donation box and then  'run' a hot bath as I'm not the "sporty" type!   Worse still, 'runners' have to wear flat shoes and as you all know, I have never be seen in anything less than 4" heels!

Last year my daughter & I were the only ones to complete the entire Race for Life in high heeled shoes!!    We will be doing the same again this year.  We will once more be the idiots running 5km in  4" heel BARBIE-PINK, SPARKLING GLITTER-COATED SHOES over fields & tracks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  They will be worn again this year with a Barbie-pink Fairy Godmother Ballgown - complete with wings!!!!!!!!    As you all know I'm definitely NOT a "pink-person"!! or an "airy-fairy-girly-type" but I decided what the heck it's about time I let my hair down.  Most of the entrants will be wearing pink fancy dress outfits, so my daughter and I are going to join in too.

((A very BIG thank you to my friends who have placed the link for this sponsorship site on Ebay Business Sites & their websites & who are raising money offline also))

It would be wonderful if you would consider sponsoring me please.              This cancer charity is one that is close to my heart - actually about 40DD inches each side of my heart to be precise!

Events like Race for Life are an important way in which Cancer Research UK is able to fund its life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me now you could help more people survive cancer.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me - Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, at least an extra 25% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you when you tick the Gift Aid box.

So if you could please sponsor me now it would be much appreciated by over a quarter of a million people diagnosed with cancer each year.

Many thanks for your support - with your help I hope we will beat cancer.

Please make your donation "IN HOPE" (The hope of finding successful treatments or even a cure for yourself or a loved one), then one day your donation won't be sent it "IN MEMORY" of them.

How many of you have won a tenner on the lottery?????

Well look at the odds of it happening to you, and then look at the odds of you getting the "C" word!   We all play the lottery because we believe we have a 'chance' of winning, but obversely we choose to think that Cancer only affects 'other' people!

The chance of YOU winning the Jackpot on the National Lottery is approx 14million to 1

The chance of YOU winning any prize on the National Lottery (even £5) is approx 54 to 1.

The chance of YOU developing some form of cancer during your lifetime is 3 to 1

Two years ago, I certainly didn't think that the previous runners were doing something that was going to help me  .................  so please consider who this year's runners may be helping in the future when you choose to sponsor Cancer Research UK.

Thank you xoxoxoxox
