My personal message:

Thanks for visiting this page, if only to find out if I've gone totally mad! I've only been running since late March, so don't go expecting a fabulous 5K time from me. I've chosen to run in Oxford as I have lots of friends there who will hopefully come and watch me (and shout abuse when I try to stop) and also because the course in the Parks should be really nice. Cancer Research UK is a charity close to my heart (given my woeful family health history) and any pennies you could spare to sponsor me will be gratefully received. If you're a UK taxpayer, please add Gift Aid - that way you're forcing the Treasury to sponsor me too! Result.
