It has come to that time of year again when I am going to ask to all to dig deep and help us raise money for a charity that is so very close to our heart!
Firstly I would like to thank all of you who made my fundraising for the 2008 race so successful.....every pound that you donated to my site really did make a difference! Last year I was the biggest fundraiser of the event when I raised an astonishing £27,360 for Cancer Research. I was (and still am) truely amazed at how much we managed to raise in order to give a little something back to Cancer Research UK. It is their life-saving work that has allowed me to survive this dreadful disease, and I will be eternally grateful for all your generous donations!
However, the scary fact is that in our lives 1 in 3 of us will have to fight Cancer! ..........So we must continue to raise money for a charity who will never be short of work in finding new ways and technologies to help improve the lives of people who are less fortunate than us today!
18 months ago I was diagnosed with a cancer of the Lympathic system known as Hodgkin's Lymphoma. After almost 10 months of Intensive Chemotheraphy, I consider myself extremely fortunate in that I am one of the lucky ones who is now in Remission. I owe a huge amount to the work that Cancer Research has done to help people like me survive!
Therefore this year I would like to RUN the entire 5K course along with my mum and sister Katie which will be atHylandsParkin Chelmsford on Sunday 21st June for EVERY man, woman, or child who is suffering from Cancer, or who has suffered in the past. And also for all those who have not been as lucky as me.
Events like Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research ’s life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring us now you can help more people survive cancer.
