Thank you for visiting the fundraising page for Caithness General Hospital- A&E/OPD staff that are taking part in this years race for life. Please dig deep and sponsor us online. All of the staff are contributing in some form to fundraising efforts.

Although a lot of folk are doing this in celebration or memory of an individual who has been affected by cancer, we are doing this for someone YOU know.

As a charity, Cancer Research UK rely overwhelmingly on the success of fundraising events such as Race for Life to continue our life-saving research into the prevention, treatment and cure of all forms of cancer.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.

We are expecting to receive a donation from North of Scotland Newspapers for the sum of £143. The money was raised through publishing a full page spread regarding the event and all our efforts in the John O Groat Journal and Caithness Courier. Many thanks to them and all the companies who made this possible through advertising!

Update 6th May  One day until the race............... Wow, our total today is £7,319.36 we have most of our sponsor money to be added yet. Nerves are there and bellies are churning. This is so exciting! We have all done so well already and are proud to be the highest Scottish fundraisers. Many, many thanks to all who have supported us. We really are so grateful. Here's hoping it's good weather tomorrow.

Update 7th May 0800 hours  Well, it's the day of the race. So far the weather in Caithness aint too bad. Here's hoping that it's nice in Inverness. We are now the highest fundraiser in the UK! On ye go! £7,016.36 in second place yesterday and £9,927.00 online today. That's £2910.37 raised yesterday alone. We are sooooooo proud. Been invited to Caithness FM studio after the race to do an interview. It's truly amazing how much our community has been behind us all the way though our fundraising efforts. Looks like it's paid off really well. Thankyou all so much, and keep that cash flowing in. This website doesn't close until the 21st May, so there's plenty time yet! Many thanks again from all of us.

Update 10th May We are absolutely astonished and can't quite believe that we have raised so much for Cancer Research UK. Today we have received an astounding amount and would like to convey our gratitude to all involved. This morning staff from the Shelina Spice takeaway in Thurso presented a cheque for £200. This money was collected from tips they received over a three month period. We are expecting to get a cheque for £500 from Dounreay in the near future also.

Mr Pradip Datta, a very well known retired consultant surgeon from the hospital has today pledged a colossal £2100 to us. WOW! This comes from him running a teaching course for the Royal College of Surgeons in Wick. Many, many thanks to Mr Datta for his more than kind gesture. We expect to receive the money in July sometime, so this amount cannot be added to our grand total as this website closes before then. The amount has however been added to our offline total.
