Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
I'm Taking Part in the Glasgow Race for Life, 5km run aroung Glasgow Green on Sunday June 11th 2006. Please help me help Cancer Research UK by sponsoring me. I'm fairly unfit at the moment but have commenced the training programme and will keep you updated. see further down the page for my progress. Hopefully this will help with my getting remotivated at Weightwatchers too.
As a charity, Cancer Research UK rely overwhelmingly on the success of fundraising events such as Race for Life to continue our life-saving research into the prevention, treatment and cure of all forms of cancer.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
11/6/06 - YEY! i did it!!! finished in around 40 minutes, had abit of a walk at about 3k but picked it up for the last km. please dig deep, especially as i couldn't run for more than 2 minutes before February this year! i true feat of endurance
.
28/5/06 - Finished the jogging course, and now i'm a fully fledged member of the Glasgow Women's Jogging Network, going out on a thursday at 6.30 from the Kelvinhall, missed last week though cos of a mix up with times! the race is in two week, and i definately need to get more practice in. can do the 5KM now, but very slowly!! hopefully i'll do it in under 40 mins though. we'll have to wait and see!
WISH ME LUCK, and sponsor me MORE!
20/4/06 - Week 7 out of 10 Jogging course, and all is going surprisingly well, we completed just under 5km in about 35 mins this evening, with only one short walking break! so i realy am nearly there!!
30/03/06 - Just back from week 4 jogging course, 3.7 KM http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=92384 don't feel too bad, although only managed one feeble practice in the week! had a stitch most of the way, but it's amazing how far we've come in just 4 weeks! i'm well on my way hurrah!
23/03/06 - Week 3 jogging course see http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=79538 3.48KM run/walk, emphasis on the running!! flaked out on the bed in my tracsuit afterwards!
16/03/06 - Week 2 of jogging course, see: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=68174 for the route. 3.1 KM jog/walk !! Also managed 4km jog/walk on the treadmill this week (inside, on the flat! so not quite as hard).
12/03/06 - Planned to go out and practice jogging today, but i've been stopped by nearly a foot of snow!! it never snows in the Westend!
09/03/06 - joined The Women's Jogging Network Beginners course today. It was much better than i expected, about 25 people turned up, and we all ran around the outside of the kelvinhall... managed 2 circuits running, and then 2 more walk/running. so hopefully should be doing 5km in 9 weeks time!
03/03/06 - First ouside run today, was very hard. ran/walked about in Victoria Park for 45 minuted, admittedly more walking than running, but it was cold and windy. plus the duck pond was frozen!! it certainly went quicker than my usual 30 mins on the treadmill.
09/02/06 - First training session complete! 2.25 km in 20 mins jogging with a couple of minute breaks walking so not too bad for my first proper practice session.
08/02/06 - Entered Race for Life, so far the most i have ever ran for is 8 minutes solid. this was last week and i've not been back to the gym since! training starts thursday 09/02/06. ( before the Dresden launch party, see you there peeps!)
Claire :-)
