Some of you will not be aware that in April I had a very much wanted and tried for ectopic pregnancy removed. As horrible as my situation was, there are people in this world in a worse position than I and so I vowed to continue to do the Race for Life in Bristol on 18th May 2008. I am also the UK number 1 Women's powerballer (www.powerballs.com) and so to make things a bit tougher, I decided to powerball the entire 5km run.
Well today, I completed it. :)
Due to the decline in my fitness level after surgery, I opted to do the walk/jog/walk technique and finished the 5km in a time of 43 minutes. I also notched up 338,200 revs, so I was *just* under rpm target for the powerball. My target was constant 8,000 rpm but I managed to maintain 7865. If I had finished just one minute faster I would have got my 8,000, but never mind :)
Very pleased with myself as I was aiming to get under 45 minutes! We had good weather in the end thankfully with no hint of rain. I must admit I was slightly worried about having to powerball in the rain!
I had so many odd looks from people it was hilarious... but I'm not sure if that was due to the whirr of the powerball, or the colour of my face making people think I was going to keel over!
